IOWA LIONS FOUNDATION
Why is ILF important?

The Iowa Lions Foundation depends on contributions from Lioness and Lions Clubs. The Iowa Lions Foundation promotes sight and hearing programs here in Iowa, and supports or contributes to the following programs:

Coming to Your Senses
Lions Eye Bank
Glaucoma & Diabetes Screening
Iowa Department for the Blind
Education for the Blind
Iowa Lions Hearing Aid Bank
Iowa School for the Blind
Iowa Braille & Sight Seeing School
Leader Dogs for the Blind
Camp Courageous
Cochlear Implant Center

LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION

Lions Club International Foundation is the grant-making arm of Lions Clubs International. LCIF’s main focus is blindness prevention. The SightFirst program, begun in 1990, battles preventable blindness.

Why is LCIF important?

LCIF helps LCI respond to global problems
LCIF enables Lions to help victims of natural disasters
LCIF funds projects too big for districts or clubs on their own
LCIF responds to local needs of Lions and develops grant
programs that serve community needs

DIABETES AWARENESS
What is the American Diabetes Association? Their mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. The American Diabetes association supports all people with diabetes: people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, children and adults.

Why is Diabetes Awareness important?

Closer to a cure and better care
Research alone is not enough
No one should have to fight diabetes alone
Every community counts
Get involved and stay involved
Camp Hertko Hollow

LEADER DOG
Leader Dogs help lead the way to greater independence for the blind.

Why is Leader Dog important?

A Leader Dog is the blinds’ best friend and constant
companion
A Leader Dog helps minimize the handicap of blindness
Cost of Leader dog to applicant – no charge
Who is eligible for a Leader Dog? Any legally blind person in good health, 18 years old and out of high school

YOUTH CAMP
I wish every one could experience camping sometime in their lifetime. Camping is developing friendships that will last a lifetime. The inbound program includes family hosting either prior to or following the international camp or both before and after. This is an annual camp and it will be held during the month of July . Host families are always in demand. There is no requirement relating hosting a foreign youth and participating in the outbound program.

Why is Youth Camp important?

Showcase Iowa Lions to the world
Help bring our youth to Lionism
Another way to see the world
